Hailing from England, Josh Dawson brings over a decade of coaching experience to the tennis courts. With a coaching journey spanning 8-10 years, Josh’s commitment to the sport is evident in his multifaceted career.
Before joining SETA team in January 2018, Josh spent six years as a key figure at a Performance Centre in Oxford, United Kingdom. His coaching prowess is underscored by the attainment of a Level 4 Senior Performance Coach qualification in 2016, complemented by the prestigious Tennis Australia Club Professional qualification.
A highlight in Josh’s coaching career is marked by his exceptional achievement at Oxford Brookes University. Leading both the Men’s and Women’s teams, he orchestrated two promotions and guided the teams to the final of the National Cup—an unprecedented feat in the university’s history.
In his earlier years, Josh made a mark as a junior player, securing a position in the UK’s top 50. His competitive spirit shone through as he played at a regional level and participated in British Tour Events. As a player, he not only clinched numerous event victories but also played a pivotal role in propelling the Oxfordshire Men’s County team to five promotions in four years during the Winter and Summer County Cup Events. Josh currently plays GRADE 2 PENNENT for BLTC and they won the much coveted flag in 2023.
Upon making the journey to Melbourne and joining the SETA Academy, Josh seamlessly integrated into the coaching team. For two years, he led the coaching team at Dingley Tennis Club, concurrently managing client relations at BLTC. Currently serving as a senior coach at BLTC, Josh takes on the role of Hotshots coordinator and plays a substantial part in the Adult Coaching Program at the club.
Beyond his coaching prowess, Josh’s assimilation into Aussie culture remains in progress—only the choice of a footy team will confirm his full Aussie credentials!
